I can't do FB 'Live' with Firefox. It keeps telling me to use Chrome.

when I try to do a Live show a pop up keeps insisting I use Chrome. There is an x in the top right, but that doesn't help, it only takes me back to my Timeline

Is it possible that Facebook doesn't have camera permission? You can check using the Page Info dialog. While on the relevant Facebook page, you can call that up using either of these:

  • right-click a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Permissions
  • (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions

Scroll down to "Use the Camera" and "Use the Microphone", uncheck the "Use default" box, and then select Allow.

Does that make any difference? If not, perhaps FB doesn't work well with Firefox and they are just dodging the issue?

I was hoping, but 'allow' was already clicked. screen capture below

here are the other setting in 'permissions', in case you see something else?

I think Firefox should sue Chrome for hijacking the users!

Hmm, I don't know. I'm not a broadcaster myself so I don't know whether this is a recent change, some other kind of settings issue, etc.

Are Camera and Connect buttons that do anything? (Connect sure seems like a verb.) Or are these just some sort of indicators? If they are indicators, does this mean the camera is ready, but a connection is not?

Are you using any add-ons?

☰Menu → Options → Privacy & Security:

Enhanced Tracking Protection Do you have anything more than standard tracking protection enabled?

Permissions Can you check also the camera, and possibly pop-up window permissions here as well?

I think Firefox should sue Chrome for hijacking the users! I had no idea FB was so in league with teh Goog. :D
