Since all of my adds on are not yet compatible with version 68, I can hardly use Thunderbird anymore due to tiny fonts in the pane, on folders, no accounts colors, no quick text and more and more... Therefore, I rolled back to previous version by first deleting Thunderbird in program files (X86) - Reinstalled version 60.7.2 (32 bits) and all my profiles, accounts came back the way I like it with all previous adds-on. I also checked the box to allow Thunderbird to check for update but let me choose when to install them and unchecked the box: Use a background service to install updates. However, when computer restarts, Thunderbird automatically upgrades/updates to version 68.0 - What am I doing wrong? Should I create a different path in the directory? I do not want version 68. How to I remove myself from the automatic release channel? and How do I keep version 60.7 working on my computer using Windows 10?

The Software Updater is probably forcing TB 68 because that is the version provided on the TB site, even though 68 won't be offered as an update from 60.8 until (maybe) 68.1 is released. I would add TB as an Exclusion to the Updater, and then download the 60.8 installer:

https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/60.8.0/win32/

re: I also checked the box to allow Thunderbird to check for update but let me choose when to install them and unchecked the box: Use a background service to install updates. Sounds like this did not necessarilly get copied into files upon exit.

Do you use a product like CCleaner? It is known for causing problems like deleting session files and causing minor headaches. If yes, either stop using it or please make any Thunderbird file or folder exempt. It must not be allowed anywhere near Thunderbird profiles.

No I do not use CCleaner However, I use Kaspersky Internet Security -

Should I remove some features without impacting other software performance -

What Software Updater? Windows 10 knows nothing of a Software Updater, at least on my system. I just downgraded from the unrequested upgrade to 68 (which posed as a "security update") because with 68 I lost all access to saved messages and to the server. Now, when I restart the system tomorrow morning, will I once more find 68, and once more lose everything?? What a horrid "update".

Software Updater is a Kaspersky utility, but that update issue has been answered since the original post in this thread. Post your issue in a separate question.
