Recently, when I open my email, a message box pops up asking me for my password. I enter the correct password but a box pops up that says "Login to server imap.cox.net with (my username) failed". Then there are three buttons, "Retry, Enter New Password and Cancel". When I enter my password again, I get the same message box. I've been researching it the past couple of days and I believe I have all the correct information in my Account Settings. I contacted Cox and spent some time with them but they couldn't help me and suggested I try here. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Surprise, surprise! It's all my fault. Yeah, AgnesRm, I got to thinking, "If I'm having problems with all my devices, then it can't be Thunderbird, I don't use Thunderbird on all my devices". I bought a new Tivo last week. I was wondering if the cable card from my old Tivo would work in my new Tivo so I went to the Cox website to ask in their forum. I had to create an account to do it and made up a password. Little did I know that in making that new password, I was changing my email password! I found that out when I started a chat session with a cox tech trying to figure out why I couldn't receive email on any of my devices. So I fixed my password at Cox's site. Anyway, I feel like an idiot. Sorry to bother you guys. Thanks very much for your input though.

Hi.

I have had a similar challenge and posted a note at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1264000?utm_campaign=questions-reply&utm_medium=email&utm_source=notification. One approach that worked for me when it occurred in February, was to create a new profile for the offending account. However, this time, the problem disappeared after about a day after I had contacted my ISP. I don't yet know if they made any changes. However, I think it's somehow related to the certificate authentication that Thunderbird checks. If/when I do find out, I'll post the results here.

Thanks, murch1. I still have the problem. I contacted my ISP and it isn't them. It's got to be a Thunderbird problem. Been going on for 4 days now.

By the way, I can't get email on any of my devices!

Hi Roger Please clarify - when you say you can't get email on any of your devices - are all those devices running Thunderbird? If you mean that you can't get email by using your browser (webmail) or on devices using built-in email apps, then it seems the problem may not be specific to Thunderbird. Back to your email provider - did you tell Cox that this happens using different devices? As Murch1 suggested, sometimes a change by a provider causes unintended problems. If the user calls are building up they might have a better answer for you, or may quietly fix the issue. Agnes
