Spaces replaced by Question Marks
What solution exists for this recent problem? I've narrowed it down to messages via my 2 accounts via ATT (Yahoo indirect) and YAHOO. Not on any other. For every space typed after a period or exclaimation point, 2 question marks replace it. Except for that at end of paragraph. (only on sent messages or replys with copies of sent messages.
This has happened to me before in my use of Thunderbird over the years. In the past it's disappeared in time.
Posted suggested solutions are useless as they do NOT provide a means or method to make suggested changes. Such commands could be buried anywhere in Thunderbird. One post is even for a MAC. My problems are on my WIN10 x86 machines.
This problem started only in the past few days. Thanks for any advice.

Hello tdowning,
Would you try this please :
Go to the Configuration Editor (Tools, Options, Advanced, General, Config Editor). Scroll down to mail.strictly_mime Click on it and change it from "false" to true.
That should do the trick ......

Thank you for the solution's location. It was buried very deep in Thunderbird options. It tested out and worked fine for both the direct and indirect (ATT) - Yahoo email accounts. Now it just appears that Mozilla needs to make this fix, permanent in it's next upgrade cycle. Thanks again for the quick and great response.
My pleasure - have a great weekend !
my version 60.8.0 does not offer the config option leading to the mime option??? Bruce

I don't know what's going on here, but maybe you'd like to start your own thread and post a new question ? That way you'll have a better chance that someone will come to your rescue .....
Found it....one more level of advanced. Thanks
Thank-you very much for posting this solution. My email recipients and I have just been "bearing with it" and wading through all the question-marks since switching to the 'new' TBird several months ago.
I've been a TBird user on both Linux+windows for many years.
Am very happy - TBirds works again... ;)

I would never have figured out the "mail.strictly_mime" change-to-true solution in 1,000 years even if I have been promised a lifetime supply of Preparation H for solving it. Is there a reason this works, and a reason you knew about this, that would help those of us gratefully scratching our heads to understand that it wasn't just a lucky throw of the dart into the gold? Thank you.
@ Arvidd,
All I did was Google (a lot) till I came across a thread in which this
solution came up ........
And then I thought :
"If it works for one, it should work for others as well" - and it does !
(just now I had to Google "Preparation H" ......)
Yes, Preparation H also is something that will work for many if it works for one. But here's the question: What was Preparation G? Was that perhaps why we saw so many people running out of the test facility screaming and contorting?

'Found this :

But all of this is way off topic .......
