Hi Blaw, I can't remember where "use my URL" is. Could you briefly describe the steps to get to that setting? Is it related to editing the tiles on the new tab page (Custom Image URL)?

Yes! that's exactly what you said. when I try to change new-tab picture I get an endless download.

This sounds like a problem with an extension that allows to specify what image to use for a tile.

You would have to take this up to the developer of this extension.

I do not use a non-native application for new-tab. I'm trying to change the preview image of the site and I do it on a standard page without using extensions

You can open the Browser Console and check for error messages about loading the image.

Does it help if you create the thumbnails folder manually?

You can find a button on the about:profiles page to go to the secondary location used for the disk cache and go up one level.

Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files in "AppData\Local" (Local Directory on about:profiles).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

You can check the permissions and owner of the folders in this location to make sure you have write access.

I followed your instructions.

Step one: launched about:profiles

Step two: opened the local directory

Step three: created the "thumbnails" folder

After these actions began to work.
