My firefox gives crashes when playing video on pages.

I already tried: - Disable all extensions - Use default theme - Disabled all plugins - Disabled "Use hardware acceleration when available" - Refresh - Made new profile - Cleared Cookies and Cache - Reinstalled Firefox

The "about:crashes"-page shows multiple Unsubmitted Crash Reports

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

Hi FredMcD,

Thanks for your reply. It is not very clear to me what you mean with "We need the report numbers to see the whole report." Do "the report numbers" refer to the "report ID" as shown in the image?

Here are these report ID's:

That is what we need. Report numbers without the 'bp-' in front have not been submitted to Mozilla, so we can't look at them.

As I don't know Linux, I called for more help.

Any advances, FredMcD?

Tired and do not fell like searching much.

libavcodec.so.* mentioned in many of the crashes is related to FFmpeg which is used to fully support HTML5 players for video/audio like used by Youtube.

Bug 1435212 - Add support for FFmpeg 4.0 (libavcodec/libavformat v58)

Also could be a issue(s) with the third-party Ubuntu Firefox package of Firefox 62.0.3 as perhaps you could try Firefox 62.0.3 tarball from www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ to see if you still get crashes in same use conditions. Just keep it simple like have the extracted tarbal be in a Firefox folder in Home

Hi James,

Thanks for your reply!

The info about bug 1435212 is beyond my understanding.

Installing the tarball from www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ did not solve the problem.

I have two versions of ffmpeg installed, one compiled by myself (something at the limit of my understanding..., but needed it). Any way, Chromium Web Browser does not have a problem with it...
