I can't access hearts.vex.net at home but I can at work. I've checked to make sure I have the same security settings at both places (cookies, history, tracking protection--everything) and nothing works. Have also tried other browsers at home (Chrome & IE) and neither of those work, either. Very frustrating--can anyone help?

What are you using for your ISP at work and home? What about your modem/WiFi?

Work is a network ad.peralta.edu. At home my ISP is att.net.

As to wifi/modem, I connect at home through a wireless router. At work I'm connected to the network through an ethernet cable.

There could be some kinda security protocol that is not permitting anyone outside of the network to access unless it was a VPN setup or only connected in the network permission. Contact your IT department and ask them. What your describing is what I would call locked down restricted access from anyone outside unless your directly connected within the network.

Makes sense except that I CAN access the site at work but CAN'T access it home. There's no way I'd have more security at home than at work. That's what's so puzzling (and frustrating) about this. Thanks for the help.

You read it wrong. They have a certificate network verification that you don't have at home that is why your blocked from access. I also work in a nonprofit organization and before they updated the access from outside the network I could go and check on my work time and schedule after they update they said they blocked any access from outside of the network for security purpose and won't change that.

HI, what security software are you running please ? What error message are you getting ?

There is security software like Avast/AVG, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER If you are running any of the above software please their community forum for a work around.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

The strange thing is I'm not getting an error message at all--nothing about expired certificates or possible dangerous sites--the site simply won't load. I'm running MS Essentials at home and checked to see if it had intercepted the site and it hasn't. There doesn't seem to be a place in Essentials to allow specific websites through--only files and locations on my computer (though I added hearts.vex.net to the locations and it didn't help). The only thing I can think to add is that the icon for the site when I try to access it home is different than the icon at work where I can access it. Not sure what that might mean but . . . . Thanks to all for trying to help.
