Firefox 60.0.1 on Solus Linux has the "studies" checkbox checked and grayed out (screenshot attached). I want to make absolutely sure that I am not subject to Mozilla's misguided studies, but I can't seem to find a way to make sure this is disabled.

What does about:studies show?

Are any datareporting prefs locked?

datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled
datareporting.healthreport.service.enabled
datareporting.healthreport.uploadEnabled

You can set this pref to false to disable studies.

  • app.shield.optoutstudies.enabled

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Both of these are set to true: datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled datareporting.healthreport.uploadEnabled

This is despite "Allow firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla" (unchecked) and "Allow Firefox to install and run studies" (checked) being grayed out.

Are you sure that setting app.shield.optoutstudies.enabled to false disables studies? It would seem like "enabling opt-out == true" is what I want.

IMHO, Firefox studies and data collection by default run completely counter to Mozilla's stance on privacy. That there are bugs and ambiguity with controlling it and turning it off is extremely bad.

HI, not seen the bug before as you call it. It is possibly a corrupted file.

As cor-el said for you to do is change to false, please do so if you want the desired results of not being in.

cor-el also asked what does about:studies show ??

Also when you have things checked and need support it sends support data on what extensions you are running which can at times give us the answer to your issue or ask to run in Safe Mode which disables extensions to see if the problem is there or not. Is helpful.

It also sends the condition of your Video Card Drivers and make and model of Video Card and when was last updated which is also helpful in solving video related issues such as letting you know.....Yes You...that your drivers or options are not in that great of shape but is probably of no concern for your : adapterDescription: Intel Open Source Technology Center -- Mesa DRI Intel(R) HD Graphics 400 (Braswell) driver date : unknown u'Acceleration blocked by platform' u'Off Main Thread Painting', u'log': [{u'status': u'disabled', u'message': u'Disabled by default', u'OpenGL Compositing', u'log': [{u'status': u'unavailable', u'message': u'Hardware compositing is disabled',
