How can I assign an icon to a bookmark?

After upgrading to Quantum 34 out of 37 bookmarks have the same default icon which makes them useless. Firefox should include a method to assign a local image as a favicon for bookmarks. I've uploaded an image of the toolbar. The toolbar cannot be expanded so putting text with each bookmark defeats the single click advantage of using a bookmark toolbar. Selecting a bookmark from a lengthy list is not practical.

Your pulling all the data in properties out of these URL's is that correct. it maybe why they have reverted like that. Or the issue is in your Profile.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See Creating a profile :

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem. Never work with original files.

The problem is not with a profile. To simplify the situation I installed a clean version of Quantum and created a single entry on the bookmark toolbar. I get the same results. There is a default icon. There is no way to change it.

FYI the bookmark is https://mbworld.org. The site like most of the sites I visit has no default favicon. Therefore those sites will have the exact same icon. How can I assign an icon to a bookmark to make each bookmark unique?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/ All around it but not at it. Think it will take longer still to find something. Is unfriendly, if type in the search box copy/paste it or loose it. Have used all your descriptions and found several that were close but not what you want. Think it will happen. Has only been just over a month since code change. Most of these are all newly made.

The screenshot shows that the bookmarks have a default icon. If you click such a bookmark to visit the link then Firefox should retrieve the favicon and display that icon instead.

As I indicated in my post, most of the websites I visit have no favicon. Previously I assigned a local icon to the bookmark. That capability was removed in Quantum.
