Why can't I rearrange my Top Sites display on a new tab in the new version? Very annoying!!!

I used to be able to arrange my Top Sites in any order I preferred. Now if I add one, it goes to the "front" and I can't move it. Nor can I rearrange the ones that are already there.

You can't do this in the current release, but this will be possible in the next release (59; currently beta).

To rearrange the tiles in the Firefox 57 and 58 you need to disable Activity Stream temporarily and return to the previously used design to make it possible to drag tiles on the about:newtab page. Once you are done you can return to the Activity Stream design.

You can disable the Activity Stream design and revert to the earlier design by setting this pref to false.

  • browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
