Hello, Please advise how I might erase large numbers of e-mails. I've gotten behind and they are taking up memory; I would like a new start! I would appreciate knowing how to erase all from certain sender's or all past a certain date.

Thank you

I would start by sorting the messages. If you sort them by date, then all the older messages will be together and you can select them all and delete in one go. Similarly if you sort by sender then all the messages from the same sender will be grouped together.

I file my messages into separate folders. I try to keep my Inbox empty, so it's easy to see what's new. Spam and Junk largely look after themselves, due to having trained Thunderbird, and the SpamAssassin service operated by my ISP. By tackling email in this "little and often" style, I never have very much to do in order to restore order.

So, the two things you need to get to grips with are sorting and multi selection. I cover both of these activities here. They are both "transferable skills" that you can use elsewhere on your computer.
