On a laptop, Windows 7 Vista. When click on firefox Icon, get the spinning circle, and the message firefox not responding. Read article on Mozilla's website and Tried to access Firefox by clicking on Desktop, typed in search box %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\, and nothing came up. Tried chrome and Internet Explorer--still getting spinning circle. Thank you

The APPDATA folder contains data files. Not the programs.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

If none of your browsers will connect, please check whether anything in the following article is useful:

Try to reset (power on/off) the router.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
