With the announcment of the zero day vulnerability, how do I know if my browser is safe to use?
Is firefox safe to use in Linux?

That's hard to answer because the only known demonstration of how to exploit the vulnerability was specific to Windows. Info about it: https://www.mozilla.org/security/advisories/mfsa2016-92/
In the meantime, a patched version was released yesterday. You could try the internal updater:
Update Firefox to the latest release
If the updater doesn't work for you, you can download a full installer (scroll down to your preferred language):
- Firefox 50.0.2: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
- Firefox 45.5.1esr: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/
However, if you are installed/update Firefox through your Linux package manager rather than directly, you may have to wait a bit for it to come through.
