My computer crashed, requiring a hard reset and both the toolbar and the links disappeared. I got the toolbar back, but the links are gone. I tried a refresh without success.

Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

If you're having problems with Firefox, refreshing it can help. The refresh feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks, passwords, and open tabs.

In your case, was the hard drive formatted? That will lose all your data. Was the system re-installed? The old files might still be there.
