Search box keeps dissapearing off of address bar. Everytime I reopen FF 46.0.1, I have to go to customize to put it back

I have tried to put the search on the tabs bar, on the address bar, on the bookmarks bar, on the left, on the right, in the middle. but after I close FF, the next time I open FF, it is gone and I have to open customize and put it back on the bar. FF 46.0.1 Windows 7 x64
