Hi all,

I wonder how it can be that I cannot find a solution to this in 2016, probably I'm not paying attention in some way.

I would like to do what the iGet addon apparently did, which is, start a download from a text URL (without having to create an HTML file containing a link). There must be a way for me to paste an URL pointing to a file in some text field and then start the download by pressing enter.

iGet stopped being compatible about 20 Firefox versions ago.

So. How do I do this?

It really would be helpful if there was a "Download from URL" option available in the Library dialog - especially for IPX (add-on) files that you want to download and install manually.
