I downloaded Lightning and ImportExportTools extensions onto my MintLinux machine from your addons page, using Firefox. These were both downloaded from your site where you recommend them as featured extensions. When I tried to load the files into Thunderbird, it refused, claiming that the extensions were unverified. Firefox version 45.0 Thunderbird 38.6.0 LinuxMint Cinnamon 17.3 How can I get these extensions installed? Can I disable the validation? I am am experienced user. I only download form reputable sites.

Chosen solution

Given Thunderbird does not bother with the verified stuff Firefox does, it sounds to me like your trying to install them in Firefox.

Have a look here for instructions on installing and add-on.
