Hi, try the Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) which can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

This was all caused by my clicking on the Refresh Firefox yesterday morning, and after it "refreshed" all my usernames and passwords, bookmarks and drop down menu of websites when I am typing in a new website address in the address bar....all those things are gone, because I hit that Refresh button....now, what can I do to restore my old version of Firefox, which was working just fine before I "refreshed" my firefox?

Ah I see, in that case your old Firefox profile should be on your Desktop in a folder named "Old Firefox Data" from where you can restore your data. See the bottom of this article: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.

Thank you for your help. it has been very upsetting to have all those valuable things gone. i am not a programmer or computer IT wiz, but I will try to follow the directions in the link you provided, but it looks like a big long learning curve and who knows how long it will take me, assuming I can even figure it all out based on what I've read so far. In fact I found the "Old Firefox Data" folder on my desktop, but I could not see any items labeled "passwords, bookmarks, etc., so already it's complicated. I don't actually have the time to do this either, so I am using Google Chrome for now which is saving all my logins info and making bookmarks as needed. I'm actually really sorry that firefox "refresh" caused such major damage to my business operations, as I have always liked using it....up until yesterday. If you know of any faster and easier fixes, please let me know.
