I installed a new SSD and want to use this quicker HD as much as possible. Re-installing firefox does not give the choice for another hd as a target for installation.

Is Firefox slow for you?

I don't think that it will make much difference to install Firefox on the SSD drive. You would have to uninstall Firefox and do a custom install to install Firefox in a location that is not the default location.

You can consider to place the profile folder that stores your personal data on the SSD drive, but a SSD drive usually has a limited lifetime when it comes to writing data and the disk cache has a lot of writes.
