On two occasions, i have uninstalled and downloaded Firefox. I use the this very successfully when suddenly it changes to "coolsearch" with a bunch of additional websites being offered. By making two entries i can get to the desired website but i would like to go direct without "coolsearch".

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove Coolsearch Anything. Now do the same in the computers Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Even though it may seem like Firefox from mozilla.org comes with coolsearch, it does Not.

Coolsearch is on your OS and is infecting the Firefox browser either by target or if Firefox is a default web browser.

Firefox for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux. from mozilla.org and www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ is clean of any malware, adware, viruses, trojans, bundled software, etc as it is one of the increasingly fewer software that is still clean in download and install.

You have to be careful on where you download software from as sites like cnet aka download .com is a known adware site that can oftentimes bundle crap with otherwise clean software.

Ok it seems like you are posting with Firefox on Mac OSX 10.6 and not Windows however you have not been clear on what OS you are having this issue on.
