I created exceptions to sites that I wanted preferences/log in information recognized, however on one particular site the preferences have to be re-set every visit. Shouldn't they be retained as an exception?

This may depend on the cookie, however all cookies are not saved at the end of the private browsing session.

Do you keep other exceptions?

It shouldn't make a difference for the cookie exceptions whether you are in PB mode. Did you make the exception for the top level domain?

  • click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
  • click the arrow to expand the security message
  • click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info"
  • click "Permissions" to inspect and modify permissions
  • click "Security" to inspect and modify cookies and passwords in a standalone window
