Up until I had the computer fixed and updated, I used the little "pre-view" button that would come up as I pointed to a site. If I hovered over it I would get a smaller temporary screen. I don't remember what it was called but it didn't show up on other browsers. I used it constantly---especially when shopping or researching and I'm going bonkers without it!

I used to use interclue for that you can even download things from a site without even going to the site. It's an add-on for Firefox
