Whenever I run a sfc /scannow this error always occurs and cannot be fixed. I have tried reinstalling Firefox on several occasions to try and fix this issue with no avail. Is there anyone who knows how to fix this issue or why it occurred in the first place?

That file is not part of Firefox AFAIK, so reinstalling Firefox won't help. Make sure that you run sfc.exe as administrator (right-click: Run as)

This sounds like the folder where the is located: NetFx-ASPNET_REGBROWSER_FILES You can see if you can locate this folder and make sure that you have write permissions to all the files in this folder.

A Google search comes up with these:

If the above doesn't help then best is to ask advice at a Windows oriented forum.

Thanks fro your response cor-el. I forgot to mention that I'm running Windows 7 and I'm so confused on where to start. What do you feel might be the best thing to try first? If I do nothing, will this cause other problems down the road or would it be OK to just ignore it? Also, is it possible with future Windows updates that it may get fixed that way?

I have also considered doing a Dell Factory Image Restore. Since my computer is only about 6 months old it will be some work but not as bad as 3 to four years out.

I also forgot to mention that I am not currently running the newest version of Firefox. If I do install 41.0.2, I get hangups all the time and the message to continue or stop script. Could this folder/file be causing this issue? I am still running 40.0.3 without these hangup issues.

Does it mention a specific script?

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Did you try to run SFC as administrator?

If SFC isn't able to fix an issue then a possible cause is that you do not have the permissions and privileges to modify affected files and you may have to take ownership of the involved files.

It is really better to ask advice elsewhere like I posted above.
