Why do I have a rectangle accros my screen that wasn't there before. Outlined in darker blue, and I really want it gone, it takes up screen space.

After upgrading to new firefox, I now have a rectangle across my my screen right under my search bar. It is outlined with a darker blue, on top and various colors about 1/2 way across bottom, measuring about 1/2 inch deep. How do I delete it?

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
