Lightning 4.0.0.1 could not be installed because Thunderbird cannot modify the needed file.

I have tried every solution that I found in this forum and nothing works. I cannot figure this one out. The needed file is where and what file? I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled the add on every way possible. I have removed the add on folder for lightning and still cannot make it run. It says that it will be installed after restart but I can tell that it will not because when I try to install the add on from file the progress bar stops at the very beginning. A few times I got the above message in a red bar at the top of the screen about the needed file. I have set permissions to everything I can think of but still cannot get Lightning to install. Hope someone else has the solution. None of the posted ones have worked.

Something quite fundamental that you haven't mentioned.

Windows, Mac or Linux?

I had edited the question right after I received your email to include Window 7 32 bit but I do not see it mentioned.

It took me all day to get set up to post in this forum and I had to start over several times before I figured it out and became brain dead by the time I finally posted successfully.

I cannot figure out what file Thunderbird is trying to write to. I have modified permissions everywhere I can think of. Somehow my system is blocking this function. I am going to try disabling my AV program and see what happens.

Well that did not work either. I am doomed. :-)
