Firefox Refresh kills Sync Settings?

Today firefox suggested to "Refresh" for first time ever. That went well, yet it seems to have killed my Sync settings. Sync now asks me to create a new account. Is this intended? I did not find any hints for that behaviour in the Refresh documentation.

Chosen solution

"refresh" deletes everything, like a "factory reset".

however, your synced data is still on the server, on the "create new account" screen, there should be a link for "sign in" to existing account.
