So I tried to do windows 7 system restore and my firefox crashed and burned. I deleted the mozilla folder as per instructions and also copied the profiles folder to a temp folder on my desktop. I couldn't get a standard edition of firefox to install, but did manage to get developer edition to work without it importing my old profile. I'd like to get back my old firefox as close as possible with all my bookmarks, addons, etc. Things have really changed with FF and it took me forever just to get to this board and be able to ask for help. Is there any hope for fixing this back to the way it was?

Did you do a clean reinstall and deleted the Firefox program folder?

Using System Restore can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because only white-listed files are restored, so always be cautious with using System Restore.

  • You may lose data in the Firefox profile folder like .js and .ini files (sessionstore.js, prefs.js)
  • You may need to reinstall affected software
