This problem has been happening for several months. I have upgraded Firefox several times but the problem persists. Very frustrating!

Well, unfortunately, there's no simply way to do that. You generally need to disable everything nonessential and see whether that helps. Or disable them individually if you are very patient.

On Mac, you can disable extensions individually on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Command+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. (In Safe Mode, they might all show as disabled already, so I'm not sure you can test without closing Firefox and starting up in normal mode again.)

Is this only when you first start Firefox, or does it occur regularly as your browse?

Script errors can be a side effect of one of your add-ons. Could you test for a while in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?
