I have carefully followed your directions and bookmarks toolbar refuses to show. What am I missing? The Troubleshooter doesn't show either, so what good is it?

Right-click in the Titlebar or in a bank spot on the Navigation Toolbar doesn't show a menu with Menu Bar or Bookmarks Toolbar, along with other menu items?

Thanks! If it showed before, it was so small I didn't see it. I was expecting it to show the way it did on my old computer --before the power surge. Know any surge protectors that actually work?

Actually, this still didn't solve my problem. When I bookmark a page, it doesn't show up in bookmarks. "All bookmarks" shows only "Bookmarks Toolbar" "Bookmarks Menu" and "Unsorted Bookmarks." WTF?

Did you look for a, possibly faint, arrow to expand closed folders?

  • Clicking the star on the Navigation toolbar will bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star turns blue to show that
  • Bookmarks > "Bookmark This Page" (Ctrl+D) will bookmark the page in the Bookmarks Menu folder (you need to confirm that)
  • "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu in the browsing area or via the Bookmarks menu in the Firefox menu button drop down or menu bar (Alt+B)
  • If the URL in the Navigation toolbar is bookmarked and the star is highlighted blue then click this highlighted star or use the "Bookmark This Page/Edit This Bookmark" menu item (Ctrl+D) to edit the properties of the bookmark like name and location and move the bookmark to another folder or remove the bookmark

Click the arrow at the far right (outside) of the folder field (i.e. not the arrow in the folder field, but the one further to the right) in the "Edit This Bookmark" window to access the complete folder list. This full folder list also opens if you click the drop marker in the Folder field and click the "Choose..." item. The full folder window has a button to create a "New Folder" (look for a button with "New Folder" or a "+" under the folder list). If folders in the list aren't expanded (i.e. are closed) then look for a, possibly faint, arrow icon to expand (open) the folders.
