i need to sync my old account

so we just bought windows and redid our computer and when i downloaded firefox it asked me if i had an account for sync and it didn't recognize my user name so i had to make a new account and i have my old sync key but where do i enter it. i'm very upset because i had a lot of saved bookmarks and information on here that i need what can you do to help me

hello tafuller, firefox 29 and upwards is using a different sync system which isn't compatible with accounts set-up in older versions.

in this case you'd probably have to use a workaround and download the prior firefox version, disable automatic updating for the moment (in options > advanced > update), link it to the old sync account and upgrade after you have successfully restored your data this way...

thanks tried that but the sync key i had said it was wrong even tho i know it was right. so i just had to restart it. i wont have any of my old stuff that i needed. it was a lot of bookmarks i needed but oh well

Sync isn't meant to be a backup system, only to sync multiple devices. Do you have the old computer around? We can recover your Firefox data from there :)
