Hi, I just updated to Firefox 31 and saw that (supposedly) there was now enough of Media Source Extensions enabled on Firefox to be able to use DASH in the YouTube HTML5 player.I thought it would be activated by default but since it wasn't I changed "media.mediasource.enabled" to true in about:config.

But it seems I'm having some problems with it.When I play a video that supports it, in some videos I don't get any sound at all, and if it starts loading for example at 360p and I change it to 480p, it will be stuck on where it stopped loading and won't load anymore, so I have to refresh the page.

Are this problems normal or is it something related to my computer? Meanwhile I'm going to disable it, because it was much better before, even if we didn't have 480 or 1080p.

Thank you.

The higher the resolution, the higher the quality of media. I do not know why the audio would not work, but you can try What to do if Firefox won't play any sounds or HTML5 audio and video in Firefox

It may be the graphics as well try: Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL

I hope this helps.

So, according to that page MSE isn't fully compatible with YouTube in Firefox yet?

Support for MSE is still under development, so it is always possible that some formats aren't supported yet. The current Nightly build (34.0a1 alpha) will have the latest code, but a lower version like the current release has a snapshot of the development at that time, so it is hard to tell what the current state is.

You can see that there are still a lot of bugs open that need to be finished before this support is implemented acceptable.
