Hi manny729, If you start Firefox with plug ins disabled, does this also happen? You can disable them from the about:plugins page and restart Firefox.
However, since you got a new card please check the driver: Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
Please post back with your results, thank you.
just try firefox in safe mode with add on disabled and 10 min later it froze and lock my whole pc i had to reboot it
Ok so it may not be add ons, but it may be extension.
Can you please check your Antivirus Name: avast! Online Security. Try to disable it, restart Firefox and go about business.
Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix are what we do normally for hanging.
i have a feeling its adobe flash newest version .....
Please try to (thank you to Alice) :
- Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Flash
See this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/k.../video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
- Disable the Flash player plugin's protected mode (Windows Vista/7/8)
The following pages/posts provide different ways to do that: Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox? Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
ive try that and disable the protected mode and still locking up pc i just had to reboot pc i left for 5 min came back mouse was locking up
Please try a virus scan, this sounds fishy.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Ive try everything I used windows 8.1 antivirus scan it with malwarebytes came back clean if it not adobe flash my next test would be the bios update I did cant be gpu as its new not sure what else to do..
Hi Manny, After this last comment I am not sure why this was marked as solved. However I understand that the issue still persists. So far we have tried: updating the drivers, a few malware scans, disabling flash acceleration and all of the steps in the why does firefox hang article.
Did the Malware scan solve the issue? Thank you.
Try everything not sure what else to try this was happening with my old gpu card so I went and bought a new card and still happening this pc isca system build I dont wanna end up selling it I dont have no programs install only install just firefox when im on fb it locks up when I highlight something it locks up after 20 min or so only way of fixing is reboot the pc dont power off and when locks up dont give me a crash report mouse and task mag become i unresponsive I can post a video. .
If your PC gets locked then this a less likely a Firefox issue and more likely a problem with a system driver or other (possibly security) software or a service that runs on the computer.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
its adobe flashe newest version cuaseing the lock up so now im stuck with no flash
Try to set the Flash plug to click-to-play by setting the permissions for Flash to "Ask To Activate" in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins". That way you can activate the Flash plugin when you need it via the Lego block icon on the location bar.
You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
- check for updates for your graphics drive drivers
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration - disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
- disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
