Open a write window. From the menu bar select View-Toolbars and turn the missing toolbar back on. Send is on the Composition Toolbar. If all your toolbars are missing press the alt key to make the menu bar appear.

I tried your suggestions but there is no view-toolbars button or even a menu link. All I get is the standard drop down menu starting with restore and ending with close. It appears I may have to uninstall and re-install thunderbird to correct this - maybe ??

Reinstall if you wish. It will not fix missing toolbars but it will keep you busy.

If you have a Write window open and press the alt key the menu bar should appear. View is on the menu bar.
