I have enabled a new Javascript and Yahoo doesn't detect it to load their current version of mail.

I am attempting to upgrade to Yahoo's new mail. They tell me I have to have the current version of Javascript enabled. I do have it enabled, but nothing changes. Why?

JavaScript is built in to Firefox and can be enabled and disabled here (as you probably already have discovered):

orange Firefox button > Options > Content > "Enable JavaScript"

or

Tools menu > Options > Content > "Enable JavaScript"

If you use the NoScript extension to manage scripts on a site-by-site basis, check the "S" menu when you are on Yahoo for related domains. For example:

login.yahoo.com login.yahoo.net mail.yahoo.com mail.yahoo.net

Similarly, if you use other security software to manage site access by domain, you may need to update those as well.

Any luck?

Well, I have done all of that several times and no change. Mayb it's A Yahoo problem? THe strange thing is that I have had the upgrade version of Yahoo mail for over a year, and suddenly it reverted back to the old one, for no reason I can determine other than what I have mentioned.

A few other possibilities.

(1) Stuck file in the browser cache (Firefox's equivalent of Temporary Internet Files)

To clear Firefox's Cache:

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"

(2) Corrupted cookies

To delete Yahoo's cookies, try this:

While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

(If the domain in the search box is not yahoo.com, try shortening it to yahoo.com)

Then try reloading the page. Most likely you will need to log in again.

(3) Problem add-on

Before using Firefox's Safe Mode, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

You can enter Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Be careful not to "reset" anything permanently in the Safe Mode dialog if you didn't back up. Just click "Continue in Safe Mode"

Does that fix it?

(Note: Safe Mode is a diagnostic tool, you shouldn't have to use it all the time.)

Thanks jscher2000,

I tried everything but the Firefox safe mode. Still the same problem. I appreciate your feed back suggestions. I'll just live with the Yahoo classic mail until I up grade to the next Firefoxversion and see what happens then. I may switch to a Ubunto os pretty soon as well.

Thanks again,

DBKerr
