Why does Firefox home content always links ot pay walls?

Pretty simple. Every time I click any "news" link on my home page in Firefox it always runs into a pay wall. This is crap as these losers get a hit count to their site, get to load ads (for some people), and so on but I don't get to read the article. And who know s what kinda crap they are dumping into my cache. This needs to be fixed or the "feature" removed. This is basic privacy shit not included in a browser that tries to brag about privacy features.....

And no, I am not talking about the sponsored "shortcuts".

Hi. You don't have to have the news/stories links at all, or am I not understanding correctly ??

I have no such issue and Windows, Linux and Andrioid

I agree 100% and I can't stand it... You'd think these clowns would be capable of even making a script that checks if there's a paywall on a site before sharing with all of us.... but we know the reality is that they dont give a flying fork, because they get paid for each unique hit. It's disgusting... and pathetic.

he's talking about the fact that on the news/stories page, most of them you click to read the article and its blocked by a paywall or subscription of some sort to read the article. I (assuming him as well) keep reporting these articles and it doesnt seem to stop, they just keep coming. You'd think these guys would be capable of a simple script to open these websites and detect if a pay-wall or subscription-wall prevents access. But obviously they don't care, because those unique hits earn them money.

Hi drakenz,

Please note that to keep the quality bar for recommended stories, Firefox can recommend soft-paywalled articles (from publishers that allow you to read a number of articles for free before asking to sign in / subscribe), as opposed to hard-paywalled ones (which cannot be read for free at all, and therefore should not be recommended). To learn more, please see Recommended stories on the Firefox New Tab page - FAQ.

Please also refrain from attacks towards anyone here, including Firefox developers. See Mozilla Support rules and guidelines for more details.
