Earlier versions of Firefox allowed you to choose a website when opening a new tab. Now the only choices are Blank Page or Firefox home (default). I find neither acceptablee and would like to specify aparticular URL to open a new tab, same as the custom URL I have selected for the home page.

How can I do this?

You can use an extension like New Tab Override for an internet based website.

Alternatively you can use an autoconfig.cfg file in case of a local file.
