How to I change firefox to NOT put their default desktop icon on all the shortcut/desktop icons. let the web site use their own icon on my desktop.

I do not want to change to ones listed in browsing icons,generic.

Sites Like facebook youtube etc.

The fastest way to do that would probably be to right click the desktop shortcut and select 'properties'. Then go to the 'shortcut' tab and on the bottom theres an option for 'Change Icon'. You can then choose an icon, or I guess in your case you would need to download your preferred icons and then use them for it.

You can check browser.shell.shortcutFavicons on the about:config page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".
