Firefox (FF) was running (I was actively using it) when my computer crashed. Lost Profile. New Firefox install. Still no Profile.

After uninstalling FF and then downloading and installing the newest FF, I still get the "Your profile cannot be loaded..." message, and FF will not start. I've tried trouble shooting with the guidance of the "Use the Profile Manager to create and remove FF profiles." Nothing has worked. Please help.

I'm limping along here with MS Edge. I hate Edge. I miss my Firefox!!!

Thanks,

jcb3

Hi jcb3, sorry to hear about this problem.

Have you already shut down Windows and restarted it to clear file locks and complete any pending system updates?

What have you tried so far to help Firefox find your profile(s)?

In particular, did you try removing the Profiles.ini file (while Firefox is closed) so that at the next startup, Firefox builds a new list of your profile folders and offers you a choice of which one to use? It's "Method 2" in this article:

How to run Firefox when your profile is missing or inaccessible

Please don't delete any profiles or other folders, and definitely don't use Windows' System Restore feature, since that will make recovery more difficult.
