I get this when opening a new tab : /C:/Users/Bill/AppData/Local/TNT2/Common/pinnedSearch.htm. but when I follow the suggested fixes it happens again
I follow the suggested fixes and they work, briefly. As soon as I reset my home page to Google the problem recurs

Actually, after deleting that file I re-ran the SearchReset addon and it finally fixed the problem so thanks Phillip, much appreciated

hello, you have a user.js file present in your profile which is used to overwrite your custom preferences after each restart. please try this: go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "show folder", then a new window will open up. in this window look out for a file named user.js (it might be used to overwrite your custom settings). in case it is present , delete or rename this file and restart firefox afterwards.
