I'm having trouble playing Pogo games. Started about a week ago. PaydayFreeCell still comes up and plays well. When I click any other game, get an error message: "Some plugins have been deactivated for you safety." There is a box "Activate." When I click it, nothing apparently is happening. Is something going on internally which isn't visible on the monitor? Should I just be patient until some additional instruction comes up? Or what. Will very much appreciate any help you can be give me. It's virtually impossible to get help from Pogo or Java/Oracle on their websites.

Maybe your Java is too old? You can get a more recent version of Java; that might help. One way is:

Windows Start button > Control Panel > Java > Update tab > "Update Now" button

Alternately, you could try to find it on Oracle's website... if the plugin is disabled, then this page will offer you a fresh install: http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp (be aware that you might need to uncheck one or more boxes to avoid unwanted third party software when installing).
