Links don't turn purple once clicked.
I'm used to links turning purple once I've clicked them (and remaining that way, regarldess of Firefox being closed, etc), but I've just switched PC and the previous owner seems to have done something that prevents this from happening. I've checked my settings, and the colour for links that have been clicked on is set as the normal purple, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I've also tried the solution that involves unchecking a box that says something like "Allow websites to choose their own colour schemes", and not only did this not work, it also made everything exceptionally ugly.
Thanks

Modern websites will use there own colours, and Cascading Style Sheets. If you prevent them using css you will not get the intended layout. It is possible to override or change these for instance using a "GreaseMonkey" addon and suitable scripts. Or other addons. Have you got a new add-on installed ?

You have the pref browser.history_expire_days set to 0. That will prevent visited links from showing when visited.
You can look at these prefs on the about:config page.
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days (180) (also affects saved form data)
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days_min (90)
- Make sure that the History is set to at least 1 day: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember visited pages for at least"
- Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode (Tools > Stop Private Browsing is grayed, see Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history)
- To see History and Cookie settings in Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history"
- Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
