Firefox freezes constantly. I have turned off everything but the bare necessities. It is still freezing.

Hello,
Here are some ways you can troubleshoot the problem : you can first, create a new profile : search about:profiles, click create new profile, then click launch profile in new browser.
secondly, you can search about:config, accept warning, search for media.hardware-video-decoding.enabled, and set to false and restart browser. note : only use about:config if you know what you are doing, and understand what this means.
Next, check if your antivirus or external software is conflicting with Firefox, for example using GPU overclockers, which can conflict with firefox's rendering engine.
If you really cant find an issue, you can refresh Firefox, but warning : refreshing Firefox clears **only your customization options**, only keeping essential data. If you can, I would suggest to copy and save your customization options in another folder before you are willing to do this. Search about:support in address bar, click the refresh Firefox button, confirm prompt and restart.

Thank youuuu dessertdish! Did the new profile deed, & I'm waiting to see if it freezes while running youtube, while using my Scarlett i4i usb interface, with my Yamaha MODX synth.
My old laptop with win 11 had no issue, but my new Asus Zenbook 3407 brought the problem to me. It didn't seem to matter whether the "Sound" settings was using the Scarlett or the Yamaha as engine, as it froze with either one turned on.
Thanks again Dirk
