Can't send e. mails after fibre update to BT.

I have just been updated to a fibre BT account. My Thunderbird e. mail now refuses to let me send out e. mails, though it receives them correctly. It rejects all recipients. I have checked the outgoing server and the settings are correct. This problem is specific to one computer here, others don't have any problems. Despite refusing to send e. mails, my e.mail service provider, Greenby, has received mail from me this morning which is said to be unsent. What is blocking the server?

re: I have just been updated to a fibre BT account

Did Openreach do the install and are you using the BT hub connected to the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) box ?

re: my e.mail service provider, Greenby, Did you get migrated from plusnet to greenby?

re :My Thunderbird e. mail now refuses to let me send out e. mails, though it receives them correctly. It rejects all recipients.

It's not Thunderbird who is refusing to send. Thunderbird does not reject anything. It uses the data you provide and communicates with the server using that data. If server does not like something then it can refuse to send the email. The error message can help to determine why the server is not accessible. Usual reasons : Firewall is blocking port so no connection with server. Server blocking access due to wrong server settings or password etc.

re : I have checked the outgoing server and the settings are correct. We would need to know what you are currently using. Please post an image showing the greenby account SMTP outgoing server settings. It's possible you may be attempting to send using no authentication or insecure port.

Attempt to send an email - when you get the error message - please post an image showing the error message. Do you get a mailer daemon email ? If yes what does it say ? Post an image if it helps.

Please check the following so we rule it out: Firewall: The firewall may be controlled by the OS or by an Anti-Virus product you installed. Access the Firewall and make sure the Thunderbird program is set up an an 'allowed' program.

VPN: Please check computer for a VPN. Some Anti-Virus products now offer a VPN and there have been occasions when a user discovered it was auto enabled. Many servers do not like VPN because it hides your IP address. Switch it off.
