For the past three days I have been disappointed to find the error message, illustrated in the screenshot, when I open Hotmail/Outlook/Login live. It says:

Something went wrong. Please try the recommended actions below. Refresh the application. (in a button)

I've followed its advice, to no effect. I've re-booted and turned everything off overnight (twice) but it's still not working. This only happens on Mozilla Firefox, my preferred browser. I have done nothing to alter any settings or opened, or even received, any dubious emails. All the other saved sites and randomly visited ones are functioning as normal.

Any idea why this suddenly started happening? is it a Firefox issue or a Hotmail problem?

I'm in it everyday with no issue. see screenshot Did you try with Firefox in Safe Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode Also try this option. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/remove-websites-address-bar-suggestions

Thanks for your rapid response. I had actually tried the Troubleshoot mode on the first day but that didn't appear to do anything. It's actually academic now because Hotmail is back. I assumed it to be a Hotmail fault anyway coz their gay little dancing envelope was at the top of the page, not dancing so obviously depressed at his own inadequacy.

Yeah, I've seen that before. Mark it as resolved and have a good day.

I've been dealing with this issue for the past few days, too. When I select an email address hyperlink from a web page, instead of going to my default email client (like always, until now) and populating the "To:" field, a drop down menu appears asking "Chose an application to open the mailto link". I select "Outlook". There's an option you must check: "Always use this application to open MAILTO links". Users need to select this to open their email client, but you'll have to manually populate the "To" field in your email client. Otherwise, all that will happen is a New Firefox tab opening titled "mail to: xxxxx@yyy.com". Your selection of a default email client just mentioned does not stick...you'll have to go through this routine each and every time. I was finally able to get it pointed to my local Office/Outlook program file instead of attempting to go to the web-based Outlook365 program.

Being this is a brand new bug, it suggests that it's a FIREFOX PROBLEM. I certainly hope they fix this very annoying bug soon.

For several days now, Outlook mail doesn't open in Firefox in Windows 10. https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/ I updated to the latest Firefox yesterday, cleared all cache and history, ran Ccleaner and shut down the laptop several times, ran in Firefox Troubleshoot mode and Firefox still doesn't open Outlook mail. Will you fix it?
