In the downloads window, I'm unable to clear completed downloads. The "Clear Downloads" button has no effect. I can individually right-click on most downloads and select "remove from history" to make them disappear. But two downloaded jpg files will not go away. I've tried restarting Firefox, and rebooting the computer, with no change. Any help?

You can find the Preferences button of the PM extension on the about:addons extensions page (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).

If places.sqlite is corrupted then you would have to remove all places files (places.sqlite and places.sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal) to let Firefox create a new file.

Thanks, but none of that seems to help. There wasn't a corrupt places.sqlite file, and I couldn't find any other relevant info in those links.

I did install Places Maintenance, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to run it. It doesn't appear in the Tools menu or anywhere else I can find.

So I'm still in need of an answer...

Thank you! That's not exactly intuitive, but the "all" maintenance found a corrupt database -- a simple restart of Firefox later, and the button is working again. Appreciate the followup.
