Bookmarks on Android not syncing with Linux PC

Obligatory, I apologize if this question has already been asked or worked out elsewhere. But I have tried searching for a solution on the forums here and not one solution could be found, so here I am:

At the time of setting up my Linux PC for Firefox Sync, I was signed into my Firefox account on my mobile but syncing had been paused on my mobile for some reason or another. No biggie right? Should just be able to enter my credentials into my PC browser and start syncing right away? In the past when I had got signed into sync on the PC, everything across the board would sync as I had just my bookmarks, add ons, and settings set to sync. Bookmarks would load right up, all my add on prompts would open their own tabs to finish setting up, and everything was peachy.

However, when I went to get things setup on my new PC today, using the proper credentials and all kinds of authentication methods, I am able to sign into my firefox account on my PC with no issue, except for the fact that nothing is syncing up with my existing mobile account.

I have done everything I know that is in my power to do, with the exception of reinstalling my mobile app (will lose my bookmarks if I do), I have uninstalled and reinstalled on my laptop, signed out of both devices and signed back in with my account credentials to no avail. I went so far as to just create a new Firefox account with a separate email address, and using the NEW email address when signed into both, I am looking at the "Sync Now" button on my mobile with hatred, because clicking on it literally does nothing. It shows as last synced being "Never". My PC is logged in to Firefox now with the new email address and clicking sync there, it will run through the normal process but as there seems to be no data coming from my my mobile, it syncs nothing. I can see both devices under "Connected Services" as well.

I know I screwed up somewhere and now the entirety of my life's favorite bookmarks and websites are stuck on my phone. To my understanding there is no JSON style file created in Firefox mobile, with no ability to manually export. I am not above manually going line by line through each bookmark and just adding them one at a time into my PC, but I would rather not.

In summary:

- PC is not syncing to mobile bookmarks which are very much still in existence - Creating a new Firefox account and restarting the sync process from scratch does not work - As of creating and logging into the new firefox account, clicking sync does absolutely nothing on mobile, and still shows as having never been synced

How to keep the browser from messing with the language of websites?

I speak more than one language and want to have transparency and control of the content. Therefore I always want to see any website in it's native language first.

My preferred situation then would be to have a menu in the tab where I may choose a translation. In the case of a multi-lingual site I want to have those languages as additional options on top - with an indicator for the sites default language. So I may first choose the sites language, then (possibly) into which that is translated into.

But at present I can use only the settings of preferred language for multi-lingual sites, never knowing what language was the base for the content. (Presumably the most accurate content of the website.) And I can add languages for translation and sort them, while - weirdly - I cannot delete them later as there's no control element for getting rid of (maybe accidentally) downloaded ones.

Is there a solution already? Did I miss something in the settings? And: Where is the „translation panel“ to which the settings „Translations - More translation settings“ refer to in the block „Never translate these sites“?

So, here are the details:

"I am currently running Thunderbird 152.0.1 (64-bit) and I don't get an automatic prompt for updates and haven't been getting them since I updated to Supernova and now Nebula.

I have the settings set to Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them, which is the setting I have always had and I used to get automatic prompts for updates with a window opening to show the details of the update as I get in Firefox.

Can someone tell me how to get these automatic updates back."

Profile/session doesn't ever save/load

I run normal firefox on linux. Fully up-to-date. Every time I quit the app, it reverts to a version of my profile from a month ago, and loads all the tabs I had open then, and then receives all the tabs that I sent to the device in the interim (~1 month). As I speak, it just caught the 60 or 70 tabs in this window.

I tried changing the name of my profile folder to randomstring.defaultOLD and changed one of the backups to randomstring.default. This didn't change the behavior. I'm still stuck in the loop. I saved my tabs with onetab, because firefox isn't remembering my session anymore. I thought it was something to do with updates, like it only loses its mind upon updates, but that's not true. It thinks it's updating firefox EVERY TIME, because the one time it's loading to 1 month ago it was updating, but I'm 100% sure there are no updates to firefox in my linux. It's just hallucinating.

The articles on restoring from backup are outdated. They say to use an html file. There is no html file. It's just folders for profiles, not html files. HELP!

PRELUDE: I have several email accounts. All accounts display properly, except one. Yes, this is similar to my question about bottom of the far left [of emails] list of emails - but this is different.

On the far left of Thunderbird is a list of all my email accounts with "Inbox" etcetera. Each email account shows it's Inbox/Sent/Deleted/ except for 1 account. The problem email account only shows it's Title and Inbox northing else. Yes, I tested it and sent emails to it, and used the problem email account to send, create a draft, and they don't show..

Theres also no selection for making a group when I press select tabs. I tries everything; from going to chrome://geckoview/content/config.xhtml (there was no setting for browser.tabs.groups.enabled) to going into secret settings and pressing control for tab groups android rollout. (I asked AI for help and followed close to all of its steps) Please help!

I am currently running Thunderbird 137.0.2 (64-bit) and I don't get an automatic prompt for updates and haven't been getting them since I updated to Supernova and now Nebula.

Hey, I'd like to switch from Outlook to Thunderbird. I’ve already tried switching to Thunderbird once when I switched to Linux, but—now to my question: The most important feature for me is being able to use different colors in the calendar to mark appointments. I wasn’t able to get this to work on Linux, even with AI. Isn’t this option available? But if people are switching away from Outlook, surely a small feature like this shouldn’t be a problem?

Can anyone help me with this?

I am plagued with this error message on various accounts. The folders have opened before and it exists on the Gmail website application.

The SSD is fine with plenty of available space. Over twice needed by the system.

The profile folder is 65GB. Can Thunderbird handle that much data storage?

I need some advice on my Thunderbird email system. The problem(s) that I’m having are what’s frequently discussed with regard to Tbird “gulping” system drive storage, without frequent release.

I have been reading most of the narratives from this complaint, but the problem I’m having seems a lot different. So, I came here to explain my observation(s), in hopes I could correct this issue.

1. I am a long term Thunderbird POP3 user, since before the failures began related to signon security changes, before the Tbird corrections were employed(figuratively rewritten). I left Tbird during that time, and now I’m back. 2. So, like many others, my problem(s) arise from Tbird’s apparent failure to relinquish storage areas, when unused. 3. Right now, My W10 system drive(SSD) is setting at sitting at 122G. 4. It should be <100G, and it’s been as high as 13xG. 5. But, through some magic, something seems to happen during a inactive period, that will magically trip this storage to a more reasonable value. I have seen this 122G drop to 102G, but not in a very long time. 6. Beyond the fact that I’m stumped, I chose to write this narrative because my operations/experiences are significantly different from others I’ve read. 7. First, this is the only problem that I’m having with Tbird. Everything that I perform operates flawlessly. 8. And, probably even more noteworthy, is that I never maintain ANY email data inside Tbird. Barring absence, as soon as I determine email arrival, or any email changes, I simply move that email to a system repository for archival. As soon as this archival is complete, the email is deleted from it’s point of arrival. So, IOW, every time I close this system, Tbird will be completely empty of current mail. 9. Additionally, I initially configured ALL email storage repository to reside on another system removable drive. 10. Prior to this note, I issued the compact request. I did see a 3.0MB, but I’ve never seen anything above 0 MB before. 11. Additional attempts as solving this storage release problem, has warranted my purchase of a software product that will allow me to “look” into the internal storage of Tbird and several competitors, to send this hidden data to other repositories. It’s a long story, but I needed the product to migrate email data, where only Print PDF was avail- able. 12. But, it’s been very helpful in identifying Tbird internal email data that remains, despite the fact that I’d cleaned Tbird of everthing prior to my last review. 13. And, another issue is that all the email data that external email tool identifies, is deeply hidden from my standard Tbird client. The email data may be several/many days old, even though the related viewable email data had been archived/deleted several days earlier. 14. I mentioned that I have my email data re-positioned(#8) to external system repository drive for archival. This specification is issued in the “Local Directory” definition defined within each email target definition. From my long past experie- nces with Tbird, I learned that I could enter each of these “Local Directory” alternate repositories, and just simply erase them of ALL email data. 15. And, the next time Tbird was initialized, those “Local Directory” repositories would be rebuilt, clean. This will remove all email characteristics formerly present. And, the remote repositories(#11) will be built clean, and no latent email data will remain. However, this is probably unavailable for the 99.99% of users that maintain email on/in the Tbird system. 16. Tbird does, at some time, reorganize these repositories to regain wasted drive space. I don’t know/understand just what triggers this reorganization, and it never seems to “sync” the complete unused storage available. Right now, my system drive(SSD) was up to 122GB. Some time during my research, I noticed a drop to 111GB. But, if all empty data was reorganized, it would be <100GB. Of course, when I describe these system drive totals, I’m referencing the high limit of storage, including ALL installed software. (#5). 17. I always use Thunderbird to access my work gmail account. However, just yesterday, I started getting messages that my password was rejected. I changed my password, but I get the same message from Thunderbird, though I can log in to my gmail account through the web. The OIT person at my university said that Google has recently changed the security requirements for passwords, and that the security settings for Thunderbird likely need to be altered, but they could not help me do this. Is a new version of Thunderbird needed?

I want to delete the amount of emails the Thunderbird stores on my local computer.

I do not want the email on the server deleted.

I went to settings, local folders, disk space and chose the option for Delete messages more than 30 days old.

I made the change and ran compact.

It's not deleting the emails at all.

Why not ?

Again, I do not want to delete the emails anywhere else (on the server), so making the change under the folder or my account is not it.

Anyone able to point me to where the problem is and why the emails are not being deleted from my local disk ?
