I am trying to access a website for my business and keep getting this error message when logging in: (Error code: ssl_error_access_denied_alert). Help!

Weitere Optionen

How do I fix this error code? Everything that I have searched and tried to do did not help. Tech support is unsure how to handle this error message either for this something they have not really had to deal with. Any insights would be greatly appreciated on how to handle this error code and clear it out. Thank you!

Check the connection settings.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

Tried that and it did not work.

Could you post the URL so a volunteer could take a look at the site's certificate?

If not, could you see whether your TLS encryption settings have their default values? This determines the levels of encryption that Firefox will try to use with the site.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste tls and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the security.tls.version.max preference is bolded and marked as user set, make a note of the custom value (e.g., 0, 2, 3) in case you need it later, then right-click it and choose Reset.

(4) If the security.tls.version.min preference is bolded and marked as user set, make a note of the custom value (e.g., 1, 2, 3) in case you need it later, then right-click it and choose Reset.

Can you connect to the site using the default values?

Yes, thank you for you input! It is greatly appreciated!!

I am having the same problem. I have checked the steps looking at security.tls.version.min/max both are set to default. What next??

Hi johncastree, does this occur just with one site? Can you provide the URL of the page?

If you are using a service such as a private VPN, check with the service on whether any settings changes are required.

Weitere Optionen

No it has happened a number of times on different sites. I'm not using a private service..just a standard ISP.

Hi johncastree, are you sure it's "ssl_error_access_denied_alert" and not one of the other SSL errors?

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

It is definately the issue I quoted. I simply copied the text of the warning. I don't have the URLs of the sites..sorry, haven't kept them. Next time it crops up, I will try to keep!

Weitere Optionen

Did you try to disable TLS by setting both prefs to 0 or only use TLS 1.0 (both prefs 1)

0 means SSL 3.0, 1 means TLS 1.0, 2 means TLS 1.1, etc.
Weitere Optionen

No, I have left at the default level so far..min is 0 and max 1. What might be better??

Weitere Optionen

The defaults should work normally, but you can try the other above mentioned settings to see if they have any effect on your problem.

Hi johncastree, did you check the proxy setting? That was discussed in this earlier post: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../975996#answer-496146.
