Problem with FireFox Bookmark
As of today, I am unable to save a bookmark to my choice of location. I searched to see if by chance it landed somewhere I didn't want it to, but it is no where to be found despite the bookmark indicated that it had been saved to my location choice. I have restarted and cleared all cookies and cache. Still a problem.

Hi CJ, your most recent bookmarks should be listed in reverse chronological order (latest first) on:
menu button > Bookmarks > Recent Bookmarks
If you load the bookmark, Firefox should display the page and show a blue star in the address bar. Click the star to drop the editing panel, and that should indicate the current folder. You also can change the folder.
If you want that panel to drop down each time you add a bookmark, make sure there's a check mark for "Show editor when saving" near the bottom of the panel.
Does that help?
Thank you for the information. However, I have a complete understanding of how bookmarks works (I've been using Firefox for over a decade). My problem exists with the fact that the webpage is not in the folder where it was placed. The editor is on, but nothing happens, and after save, the webpage does not show in my folder. This is a new problem since it has been functioning properly all along until yesterday. Firefox is up to date.
So if I understand correctly, the bookmark is listed on Recent Bookmarks, and the Editor shows it is in folder X but when you look at the end of the list for folder X, it is not there. Is it possible there are two folders with the same name? You can use the button at the right side of the Folder row in the editor to open the folder hierarchy and see where the folder is located and see whether it is the one you are checking.
If bookmarks appear to be broken, it can indicate a problem with the Places database that stores bookmarks and history. You can run the "Verify Integrity" diagnosis and repair function to see whether that helps or reports a problem. That's here:
Open Firefox's Troubleshooting Information page using any of these methods:
- "3-bar" menu button > Help > More Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > More Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
Near the bottom, there is a section titled Places Database -- that's the file which stores history and bookmarks. Click the button labeled Verify Integrity. There may be a 10-15 second delay before results appear.
If all is well, the report that appears below the button should start with:
> Task: checkIntegrity + The places.sqlite database is sane + The favicons.sqlite database is sane > Task: invalidateCaches + The caches have been invalidated > Task: checkCoherence + The database is coherent
Does yours say that, or something else? You can select and copy the report, and then paste it into a reply for review and comment.
Got as far as Places, Integrity, Verify Integrity...nothing happens. Results do not appear.
Sorry if this sounds like a cliche but have you done a normal shutdown and restart of Windows since this problem began? We should rule out a potential file lock or access permission problem.
I meant to say Places Database..
I do a shut down every evening. However, I did another one a moment ago and tried to save a webpage to my specific folder. Still not showing at the bottom of my items. Very strange.
Here is something even more strange. I have two laptops and the other one responds normally. I was able to save the page into the folder I wanted, as usual. I hit the "sync now". I ran over to my other laptop and the page is not saved.
Finally. The item is showing in my folder. The fact still remains that I was not able to accomplish this on the laptop I was initially using when I attempted to this page as a bookmark. I added it on my 2nd laptop, synced in order to have it appear on laptop 1. This could be an unresolved and ongoing issue with laptop #1.
correction to typo: attempted to "save" this page as a bookmark
Were you already able to finish "Verify Integrity" on the about:support page ?
In Firefox 96 and newer you can right-click a bookmark search result and click "Show in Folder" to locate a lost bookmark.
Note that you can also drag the tab to a bookmarks folder, this can be to the the Bookmarks Toolbar or the bookmarks sidebar or in the Bookmarks Menu button if you have this button on the toolbar or to the Bookmarks menu on the menu bar.
Cor-el I was able to Verify Integrity, but I'm unclear as to what exactly I am supposed to do once I have. Right-clicking my bookmark (n recent bookmarks) to Show in Folder, is non-responsive--folder does not show even though it is there now. While you say I can "drag the tab in to a bookmarks folder" and it may accomplish the task, I shouldn't have to do this if the Add Bookmarks were functioning properly: location, choose folder, show editor, save. I am up to date with my Firefox...there must be a fix to this glitch.

Seems like that menu item shouldn't be there if it doesn't do anything. It was intended to work in search results, for example, in the Bookmarks Sidebar or Library window.
If you compare all 3 lists, is the bookmark showing in the folder in any of them? By that I mean:
- Bookmarks menu (Alt+B or toolbar button)
- Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+B)
- Library window (Ctrl+Shift+O as in "Organizer")
