composing email - disappearing text!

With the new update (78.2.2), I am running into intermittent issues with composing emails - as I'm writing, suddenly the letters stop appearing for a bit, my cursor moves as I'm typing, but I can't see it. Then it will come back and formatting is weird (as well as some typos as I couldn't see what I was typing!).

Have used Thunderbird for many years - this is a new one for me. Thoughts/suggestions?

Does it happen in safe mode (hold Option when you launch TB)?

Is hardware acceleration enabled in Options/General/Indexing when TB runs in normal mode?

Does not happen in safe mode and hardware acceleration is enabled.

Disable hardware acceleration in normal mode, restart TB, and see if the problem remains. If it remains, launch in safe mode, 'Reset toolbars & controls', 'Make changes and restart'.
