My internet provider is Spectrum. I have a new iMac and I trying to set up my email but keep getting the message "Unable to login at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password" How do I fix this?

Is there any kind of license for TB? Or were they scamming?

I've been stuck on a problem with TB. One of my accounts can no longer get incoming mail, though outgoing still works.

I talked with support at my ISP, and they didnt know much about TB and gave me a number for Thunderbird Support 1-800-460-9661.

That got me someone in India, and after extensive discussion she finally said that looking back in the records, my incoming server license had expired, and I would have to renew it. She said it was free 7 years ago but that had now run out. I don't remember ever having a license. But I was interested that she said 7 years because that is pretty close to when I started that account [I've had TB much longer than that]

But isn't TB free forever?

I googled that number and a few sites popped up listing them as scammers.

Just wanna make sure.

Hi. Trying to get TB to work. Downloaded all my messages from ATT.net inbox, but only headers came in. Saw where you can tell it to download full message, but it only does it with new messages. This page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/999111 advises deleting all messages and redownloading. But I tried deleting a couple messages on TB, and they ended up permanently deleted on ATT.net. They're not even in the trash.

Also, I have my ATT.net webmail in subfolders. TB is only grabbing the inbox. Is there a way to get it to grab all the subfolders too?

Bonjour, Je dois récupérer des mails supprimés par erreur de la corbeille, mais où trouver le répertoire local de Thunderbird, alors que la procédure indique de fermer Thunderbird ! (j'ai déjà fait l'étape 1 et créé le dossier "Récupération").

Voici ce que j'ai trouvé sur internet : "1)- Aller dans Thunderbird et créer un dossier « Récupération » dans les « Dossiers Locaux » 2)- Quitter Thunderbird 3)- Aller dans le répertoire local de Thunderbird : ~/.thunderbird/********.default (sous Windows, c’est quelque chose comme : %AppData%\Thunderbird\Profiles\********.default ) (sous Mac OS X, c’est quelque chose comme : ~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/xxxxxxxx.default ) 4)- Copiez le fichier : ImapMail/imap.free.fr/INBOX dans le fichier : Mail/Local Folders/Récupération 5)- Relancez Thunderbird, et allez voir dans le dossier « Dossiers Locaux » -> « Récupération » qui contient maintenant une copie des mails qui étaient en cache."

For some weeks we have observed the following problem when editing or viewing a document in MS Word 2019. This problem is intermittent and I think is associated with Thunderbird being loaded. In the Word window, if you move the cursor over menu items, rectangular regions of the window blink, that is turn black then blink back to the correct display. I have come to the conclusion that it is Thunderbird by closing open apps and testing for the Word display problem. When I closed Thunderbird the problem could not be reproduced.

HP Pavilion laptop 15-CS3 Windows 10 Home, Version 20H2 Thunderbird 78.6.1 (32 bit) Word 2019 MSO (16.0.13530.20368) 64-bit

Any advice on pinpointing the problem would be useful.

Hi everyone, hope you are ding fine these days... i'm running thunderbird with an exchange account and owl extension.

From a few days ago with thunderbird on screen, inbox folder shows all the messages and all of a sudden inbox goes blank, i click on any other folder (draft, sent...) and click back on inbox folder, and all messages apperas back.

Thunderbird is up to date, i can't find any explanation or solution to this.

has it happened to anybody?.

I've set everything to automatically delete junkmail. However, it just moves the junkmail to the junk folder, whereas I want them to be deleted immediately. I have the accounts set up to move junk to trash, but they are still going to the junk folder. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have a custom header X-TTS: configured as "mail.compose.other.header;X-TTS" when I try and send a message with something in that custom header nothing happens when I click the send button it just responds like I hadn't clicked it. No error messages no nothing.

If I remove the contents from the custom header then the send button works and is able to send the message.

I reverted to 78.5.1 from 78.6.1 and the custom header works in that older version.

unwanted tabs opening in Thunderbird

I am running Thunderbird 78.6.0 and am finding that old messages are opening in tabs along the top of the screen, just above where it says Get Messages, Write, Chat, address book etc They are not there when I open the program, but appear over the course of the day. I do not use tabs at all, I read all my messages in the message pane, yet messages that I haven't read for months will appear as tabs. Sometimes it will be one message opened several times, along with other messages . I do not actually SEE any tabs opening, I just suddenly realise that there are many there. I just closed down 12 tabs, the oldest message was from over 12 months ago. My mail is IMAP, I do not have any add-ons. This is SO frustrating. Do you have any answer please? Win

I have been using Thunderbird for a hosted exchange account and it has been working great. I purchased the exchange add-on, etc. Starting this morning, the list emails in the inbox disappears. I have to click on another folder and then click the inbox again to see the emails. After about a minute of so, the list disappears again.

I have other IMAP accounts that do not do this.

I just installed the new Thunderbird 78.6.1 and when it re-opened, in the left column, in between my two e-mail accounts there are over 100 lines that say popstate-xx.dat (xx is a different number in each case). It takes forever to scroll from my first account to the next one with all these things in between them. What are these? Can they be deleted safely? Will they keep coming back?

Merge Thunderbird Profiles

On 9 Dec 2020 my Windows 10 computer crashed and as it was still under warranty a serviceman came and replaced my internal hard drive. Therefor I lost everything. I reinstalled Thunderbird on 21 Dec 2020 and got two Thunderbird profiles, one called default-release (now of 1.6 GB) and one called default (of 47 bytes). However, on 30 Sep 2020, I had backed-up the whole of my C-drive onto an external hard drive. The Thunderbird profiles on that hard drive are: .default (of 13.5 GB) .default-release (of 34.7 MB) .default (of 47bytes) .default (of 47 bytes) .default-release (of 10.1 GB) all created on 30 Sep 2020 when I backed up. (The 10.1 GB profile was from a previous hard drive crash and its contents are now part of the 13.5 GB profile.) I presume that the 13.5 GB profile contains all my emails as of 30 Sep 2020. I was thinking that it might be possible to combine my post-20 Dec 2020 emails with my pre-30 Sep 2020 emails. But on searching the web as to how to do this, the general advice is "don't try this, it's not worth the risk, you could lose everything." I also have a twelve year old laptop with one of my Thunderbird mailboxes on it. To practice, I tried pasting the 13.5 GB profile into its Profiles folder but it seemed to be downloading forever. Do those 47 byte profiles have a significance and are they an essential part of downloading your emails? I'd like to persevere with trying to combine emails on the old laptop as I'm an old bloke and not highly computer literate and don't want to risk it on my main computer. Can anyone advise? Hello, I have been able to receive and send emails through Thunderbird without any problem but the last couple of days I cannot receive or send emails on my laptop, but I do receive them on my cellphone through outlook. The strange thing is that when I come on to Mozilla support, it suddenly starts to work but then the next day it stops working again.

Buon giorno a tutti. In thunderbird mi arrivano messaggi con degli strani caratteri. Esempio: ......'E’ molto importante far presente a voi soci che, se ben leggete la mia ultima mail di due giorni fa ( 16 gennaio ), io avevo si dato disponibilità ad un eventuale incontro con le mie sorelle e mio fratello, solo una volta in possesso però del conto economico, dello stato patrimoniale, nonché delle risposte chiarificatrici a quelle domande che, legittimamente, avevo posto al nostro amministratore, semplicemente al fine di poter presenziare tutti noi alla riunione adeguatamente informati  in merito all’attuale situazione della nostra societÃ' .


Cosa posso fare per modificare eliminando questo bug? Grazie

Cannot COPY or MOVE emails from Account to a Local Folder

Nothing happens when I try to COPY or MOVE emails from an Account to a Local Folder.

EDIT: Bigger issue is that I need to delete this account but I don't want to lose the hundreds of emails.

I need to delete all my Protonmail accounts before i can fix issues with the Protonmail Bridge app which handles the encryption. I need to do a clean install of the bridge to see if I can make it start working again.

Forwarding them all to somewhere would be a poor solution because the headers would be prepended with "FWD" information, it would preclude Replying in an orderly manner, and Searching.

EDIT: maybe a workaround would be to attempt to use a Filter to copy EVERYTHING and run it once. Not sure how to set up the Filter to do that, does it accept * wildcards?

I recently switched host accounts from justhost to hostgator. Everything was working correctly until this morning. Every time I try to send a message I get an error that reads...

Sending of the message failed. Failed due to unexpected error 80004005. No description is available. The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) gator3094.hostgator.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

I talked with hostgator and everything is set up correctly on their end.

Trash Folder has disappeared on one account

I tried just creating a 'trash' folder, but that didn't work.

What happened and how do I get it back? Occasionally, I might need one of those.
